My roots are buried here.

bookend: Mt. Shasta

Fragrant fern and
Flowers; colors of the heart.
Garden offers life.

See the jungle maze?

Foliage thrives in a riot

Of green, breathing life.

Bird song, rustling leaves.

Turning leaves, ripening grapes, autumn: all point to change.

Content to stay in safety behind the rock walls~

But encouraged by the fiery red horse to jump for freedom~

("Cabin Fever" by Susan Rothenberg)

I follow the stepping stones to the unfettered path.

Seashells! Mild, steady, stable at sea level~

Opposite the challenges of the mountain peaks~
bookend: Mt. Lassen

  1. Hi Margaret

I hope that you are rested and enjoyed your Californian sojourn.

This is a lovely selection of wild and domestic scenes but I am intrigued by the walls that offer comfort and safety juxtaposed with the yearning to leap...

    Happy days Margaret

  3. Certainly a beautiful area for your roots to be buried in Margaret. Some are meant to leave their roots and leapt the rock walls to follow the unfettered paths and thrive, while others are content to stay rooted between their walls and bookends and yet thrive. I stayed rooted.

    Smiles,
    Wanda

Hi Lynne! Those bookends are in the Cascade mountain range--you have some peaks up there, too? Ah, the Pacific Northwest! LOVE xxox
    ======
Hi Wanda! You stayed rooted, and you certainly thrived! I think I've tried both and managed to thrive in both arenas. When you turn back, though, you're filled with melancholy for a moment. LOVE xxox

Hi Bonnie! Those mountains both have a volcanic background, too! Mt. Lassen last erupted in 1915! LOVE xxox

Hi Friko! Everyone always asks me why I would leave California for New Jersey! The easy answer is that's where the work is! LOVE xxox

Hi Rhonda! I can't believe how beautiful that area is in the fall! Really different from the dry, dry summers. LOVE xxox

Hi Rain! Thanks for the comments! The rock walls were all made from volcanic rock from the 1915 eruption of Mt. Lassen--miles and miles of it. LOVE xxox

Bises, Margaret

  16. Beautiful bookends... as long as the volcanoes underneath don't turn active again... very peaceful easy feeling here... looks like you've been having some beautiful days out tramping around the countryside. (and I mean tramping a good sense; as in travelling !)

  17. Hi Owen! Glad to see you here! I just heard there is some volcanic activity stirring under the muontains in the States of Washington--same mountain range. However, it is so peaceful to spend a lot of free time tramping outdoors in such serene settings. Too bad I didn't have Saj and Lynne with me for some real tramping! :)
