marion, you have very strong faith to be able to have that kind of compassion. You are absolutely right. He left behind a family and--in a different way--a family of music that touched the world.
HI, Gry~ You are probably getting as many news reports as are we. He will be an icon and a legend forever, and as you say his music lives on. this one (We are the World) and Thriller are my favorites.
Hi Margaret... shining stars sometimes implode to become super novae before collapsing on themselves... stellar comparisons for stellar size people... I'm wondering just how hard it is to handle, that stellar weight...
Just saw your answer on cat's eye post below, and the other email, will get back to you... thx!!! Just saw my old boss from work this week, he's Lebanese... Sorry for being so slow, but this awful job I have keeps me from blogging as much as I'd like... communicating with all you good people...
Great analogy above, Owen. I read in the NY Times today that if you compared the young MJ dancing to the 40-50 year old, you can see the loss of spontaneity, the use of trademark steps by rote, the joy, the inventivenes. Like an old boxer, still knows the moves, but is the agility and timing still there? What do we expect, anyway? I like the way Shirley MacLaine keeps herself going in her later years. You might ask your old Lebanese boss if he recalls the Habbouche family: six or seven kids, one of which was my mother-in-law. A rather well-to-do family who married into the Rizk family which made them cousins of Samir and Georgina Rizk (former Miss Universe). And this is so like the conversation in Beirut! I was very impressed with the stagiere route your daughter is taking. I'm guessing she has many good things ahead of her. Bravo, Owen!

A sad day for the Jackson family. I pray for his children and family to be comforted by God today and in the difficult days to come....
ReplyDeletemarion, you have very strong faith to be able to have that kind of compassion. You are absolutely right. He left behind a family and--in a different way--a family of music that touched the world.
ReplyDeleteIt is so sad. But his music will live for ever.
