Oh gosh, I really need to get out at night to try and photography my sky! Ever since I got my new camera I've been dreaming about photographing Orion The Hunter, who is very bright in these parts (who? which maybe is the correct word!!!)...Got to wait for a clear night!
Ms. Pluie, you have to come back! I wasn't finished. I tried to show the entire constellation, shining star, dying star, and harp! I think this particular constellation would be shining very brigtly in your sky as it is now high in the sky in the Northern Hemisphere (transitory). To me, it looks a little like the big dipper. We of course get Orion here; it's always so bright; it's the first constellation I look for. i have a Sony 1080 with 13.6 mega pixels: still not so clear of the moon which right now is full, and I don't think I can hold it steady enough long enough. Guess back to the old Nikon for sky shots.
LOL MS. Pluie! I haven't tried taking a shot of the moon yet! My camera has a pretty good zoom, 12x optical, I'm really hoping the weather will clear up soon! I'd like to get a tripod, because I get pretty shaky sometimes trying to hold it steady, I even hold my breath, lol!
Yes, that's it! The zoom! I have plenty of pixels but not a good enough zoom for the moon and Venus and stuff. And the tripod is the coup de grace! Of course, there's always a clump of trees in the way! The weather was nice here today, so I'll send some up north to you!
Hope I'm not repeating myself, but I'm going to be moving to Prince Edward Island, most likely I can still go at the end of this summer. One thing on my dream list is to get a really good telescope because PEI is prime real estate for star gazing! I'll be (hopefully) back in school in January taking physics at UPEI. They have a good astronomy stream, so I plan on taking some of those courses too! It's so much fun isn't it? I have that problem here too, lots of trees in the way, unless I drive out to a field, but I'm usually too pooped at that point! I'd love to be on top of Mount Orford to photograph the moon, oh that would be so cool! But at that time, the gondola is closed and I'd have to walk down in the dark...slightly creepy with those trees staring at me, lol! I'm on a quest to find a good spot before I leave here though! Oh that and the sunrise!!! Can you add a zoom lens to your camera?
Prince Edward Island! That's going to be fabulous! and physics and astronomy and a telescope! You've "scoped" out a lovely new life for yourself, Rain. I'm so happy for you! My Sony's too small for much of a zoom lens, but I have a bigger Nikon with an "AF Nikkor 29-105 mm" which is a little unwieldy. I did learn a secret trick in manipulating the photo for use: use the gamma function to bring out light and color.
LOL, I love your play on words! PEI has been a dream for many many years now! I'll miss the mountains, but I think the next step is from Mountain Mamma to Ocean Rain, lol!
Gamma function...you know Margaret, I've been lazy with the camera, I'm only really using the Macro and Simple modes so far, with zooming. It has SO much more to it! I recently pulled a muscle so I'm kind of grounded for a few weeks, perfect opportunity to get into the nitty gritty of the functionality of this thing! It should be fun!
