We've seen July's full moon from New Jersey and Hawaii. Anywhere else? Any photos? Shall we aim for pix from around the world for August's full moon? It falls on August 6, 2009. Please email to me at margaretpanpipes@gmail.com.
You folks on the East Coast will have a penumbral lunar eclipse reaching its maximum at about 8:30 your time with the August 6 full moon. That means the moon will be partially darkened by the earth's shadow. It's not the sort of eclipse where the blackness of the earth's shadow falls on the moon--those are umbral eclipses--but it should worth looking for. Wiki has a good explanation under Lunar eclipse.
I am in like Flynn!!! LOL I'll have my car fixed by then, and hopefully clearer skies!!! Oh gosh, that is a beautiful photo Margaret! You are making me squirrely for the ocean! :-))
Dan~ Thanks for the info. You are right. This is the second lunar eclipse in a row. (There will have been three then, I believe.) And we'll have to wait up for the full moon to come out! (and pray for no rain or heavy clouds!) Oh, I saw that there will be a Blue Moon on New Year's Eve! That should be festive!
Blues, thanks! you've got a great shot at the moon from your neck of the woods! I guess, though, you'll have to get out from under the trees as do I. Maybe where it's reflecting on the pond with the fountain?
Cool, Rain! Some shots are interesting if there are some clouds, but knock on wood we don't have one of these classic downpours we've been having on a regular basis! The great thing is if August doesn't work out, there's always September! (^-^)
Beautiful moon shots Margaret, I love to pay attention to what the moon is doing, the little moon gadget for blogs is good for that... but nothing beats getting out in a wild spot far from city lights, and watching the full moon rise, and staying out all night, and watching it set. Used to do that with friends in Pennsylvania, haven't done it for a while... but love to watch the moon from wherever... it is magic...
Owen, that is beautiful! i have a gut feeling that the phases of the moon somehow affect us emotionally, spiritually; there is always some turbulence in my life during a full moon! I mentioned to Dan above that there will be a Blue Moon on New Year's Eve--now that would be something to watch out in the country!

That's a good idea...I like it even more than the "shoot out" theme that some folks are doing.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a cool idea. Look for Mexico mo moon pics soon in an email near you. Thanks for sharing and take great care.
