ancient roles

Unattainable, ~ The moon and the lizard with ~ Puffed throat. Ancient sport.
"Moon, you are getting worse and worse.
Lying around in pretty satin,
your hair fixed all careful like a widow.
I capture this lizard and house it
in my hands. Feel the scratching.
We look at each other between my fingers,
he as Dante and I as the ghost,
the Lost-in-the-Night, the daughter
of faith built on common ground. While you,
old moon, play safe, safe, beautiful and safe."
~Safe and Beautiful by Linda Gregg

  5. La lune peut-elle faire pousser des dents à ce magnifique petit lézard ?... Juste une question !...;)

  6. Hi Blue Moon! Thanks for your nice comments about this post and my blog! I loved your blog--marvels and wonders juxtaposed to some very philosophical questions. I'll be back!

Hi Wanda! Or a "Knight in White Satin!" Yes, it seems the moon's basic job here is to kick back in pretty satin!

Thanks, Blues! This post does make you think.

Thanks, Angela! I love it when I find connections on different levels between poems and photos.

Salut le copain! Tu sais qu'il y a un endroit tres mou sur la queue du lezard ou--si la lune decide de la mordre--separera tres facilement sans peine au lezard? Ce n'est pas aussi facile pour nous autres.;)

  7. Hi Margaret

I love that little lizard, or is he a gecko? so perfectly colour co-ordinated with his lightning slash along his back he could be Harry Potter's emblem...

    Happy days

  9. Beautiful photo of the lizard. I don't have many lizards but I do have tree frogs from time to time that are so cute!

  10. Hi Delwyn! He's an anole lizard in Kona on the Big Island, Hawaii. My sister's friend Debra took this picture in her back yard. They are usually green, but there is a brown species. Cool about the lightning slash and it representing Harry Potter! You're right! It does look like that!

Hi Marion! Yes, a lot of lizards down your way, too! I just discovered Linda Gregg and can't get enough! Are you familiar with her?

Hi Lizzy! Thanks for stopping by! Do you remember when the world's scientists were worried that frogs were disappearing (like the bees now)? So good to hear you have them!

Good night, Marion and Lizzy! Good day, Delwyn!
